About Geoff Brace

Lehigh County Commissioner Geoff Brace was elected to the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners representing District 4 in 2013 and took office in January, 2014. He is married to Sara Jane. Together they are raising their son, Isaac, in Center City Allentown as active members of the community.

Commissioner Brace’s legislative efforts have included a focus on a strong regional economy with jobs that pay a living wage. This includes strengthening the safety net that provides for seniors at Cedarbrook nursing home, human services for children and youth, mental health, intellectual disabilities and the homeless. He has worked with other Commissioners to eliminate pay-to-play politics and supports campaign finance reform which ends the influence of big campaign dollars and special interests. Geoff also fights for a safe environment, raising concerns about lead poisoning in homes, protecting our natural resources, safeguarding our water supplies from run off through the Lehigh Conservation District and through strong support of expanded farmland preservation.

As an Allentown and Lehigh County native, Geoff has always called Lehigh County home. As a teenager, his first job was mowing lawns by renting his Dad’s lawnmower. Commissioner Brace also worked on a farm, mentored Allentown youth and has given a great deal of his time to the community as a volunteer.

He has served as a volunteer throughout the community: Allentown Zoning Hearing Board, Board of Governors at St. Luke’s Allentown, Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley (Upside Allentown) and the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce (Downtown Allentown Business Alliance). He is an ordained Deacon at Zion Liberty Bell UCC in Allentown where he was instrumental in starting a homeless breakfast ministry.  Geoff has also been a coach with the Allentown Youth Soccer Club and officer in the Old Allentown Preservation Association.

Commissioner Brace is currently Legislative Assistant to State Representative Mike Schlossberg, where he oversees legislation, policy and communication for the 132nd legislative district. Geoff has developed extensive experience in community and economic development, having worked for the Pennsylvania Downtown Center, Kutztown Community Partnership, Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and the West Chester Business Improvement District. He uses these experiences to benefit Lehigh County and promote vibrant communities.

In 2017, Geoff was named “Volunteer of the Year” by the Downtown Allentown Business Alliance for his work and efforts in Allentown. He was also named to the Inaugural Class of Phi Kappa Sigma International Fraternity’s Emerging Leaders in 2016 and was part of initiatives recognized by the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission for Excellence in Community Planning in 2015 and 2019. He was recipient of Ursinus College’s 2013 “Rising Star Award” and was recognized as “20 under 40” by the East Penn Business Journal in 2011.
